Hedy’s Pluck Me Cake

Pluck Me Cake is a quintessential Christmas morning dish that will certainly awaken everyone in the house from slumber with its sweet cinnamon aroma.  The Schneider family has been enjoying this for years, and I’ve jumped right on the bandwagon.  We count down the days to the Christmas season until we can enjoy decadent Pluck Me Cake holiday perfection!!  The best part is spying the most ideal bite and plucking it off the cake with your fingers.  You should see us…we are all like vultures when there is a Pluck Me Cake involved.  Every man for himself!  And we all end up oh so happy…Thank you, Hedy!!

Pluck Me Cake Ingredients:
3 Cans Biscuits (or 4 small cans)
1 ½ Cups Brown Sugar
1/3 Cup Sugar
1 ½ Tablespoon Cinnamon
1 Tablespoon Vanilla
2 Sticks Margarine/Butter
1 Cup Chopped Pecans

  1. Melt margarine/butter over medium head and add sugar until melted, but not browned.
  2. Add all other ingredients besides biscuits into pan over stove.
  3. Drizzle 1/4 of sugar mixture in bottom of Bundt pan.
  4. Layer 1 can of biscuits tearing each biscuit into about four pieces.
  5. Then drizzle another 1/4 of the sugar mixture on top of the biscuits.
  6. Continue alternating biscuits and sugar mixture ending with last 1/4 of sugar mixture on top.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 – 30 minutes.  (Baking time really depends on your oven.  You don’t want to get it too dark on top, but not raw and gooey on the inside either!  A good trick is to cover the Bundt pan with foil at about 20ish minutes and finish baking.)
  8. After baking, let cool for at least 10 minutes.
  9. Turn over onto serving platter and pluck off a piece of gooey goodness with your fingers!!  Mmm!!
